BERRY Hill won the Gloucester One title on Saturday – without as much as touching a ball.

The Hillmen were due to host bottom side St Brendan’s Old Boys needing just two more points to secure the championship and promotion back to Gloucester Premier.

But the Bristol-based visitors forfeited the fixture, granting Berry Hill five points and the title.

Hill have won 17 of their 21 fixtures this season, losing three including just one home defeat.

They sit nine points clear of second-placed Widden Old Boys, who they travel to on Saturday for their final league fixture of the season.

And further silverware could yet come to Lakers Road.

Lydney United were expelled from the Combination Cup for fielding ineligible players against Hill in their 8-7 semi-final win.

Hill will now contest the Junior Cup final against either Ross-on-Wye or Cinderford Stags.
