TWO sisters from the Forest saw off competition from a more experienced bowls pair to become county champions last month - and will now represent Gloucestershire at the national finals.

Erin and Hattie Burke, from Lydney, competed in the County Under 25s Junior Ladies Four Wood Pairs Final on Sunday, July 24.

Aged just 13 and 12 respectively, Erin and Hattie, who play for Coleford Bowling Club, faced an experienced team from Gloucester City.

Dad Simon said that Erin and Hattie “fought hard” to become champions.

They will now represent the county at the Bowls England finals at Royal Leamington Spa on August 30.
