SATURDAY was one of the proudest days in Forest rugby history as two teams from the district contested national finals at Twickenham.
Ironically, it was also the day when the Dean's longtime flag-bearers, Lydney, were relegated from the National Leagues for the first time.
Lydney put up a bold display in their final game away at Hartpury College but went down 27-25.
In the end, the result of that match was irrelevant as relegation rivals Bournemouth beat Dings Crusaders to confirm their survival.
