CINDERFORD start their Southern League campaign at home to Fleet Town this Saturday (3pm), buoyed by the news that Andy Lewis is staying at the club.

Lewis has turned down the chance of a move to Shortwood United.

Town coach Danny Haines said: "Andy's on board with us. He was offered good money to join Shortwood - much more than we can offer him - but he's not a greedy lad and we're delighted he has decided to stay."

Cinderford have enjoyed a decent pre-season programme.

Simon Prangley and Sam Hunt notched goals in a 2-0 midweek defeat of Bristol Rovers and Town could easily have won that match against a squad of full-time pros by a much bigger margin.

Prangley and Hunt, along with Jemal Easter and Jon Newall, have been the main additions to the squad.

Ross Gabriel has also impressed with his attitude and willingness to learn after stepping up several leagues from Broadwell.
