IT was a night for reminiscing and reliving a few past battles.
It was also a night for remembering late team-mates as the surviving members of Lydbrook Athletic's 1962 side got together for a 50th anniversary reunion.
The likes of Pat and Mike Brain, Andy Childs, John Cox and Gilbert Phelps were joined by ex-Lydbrook players and committee men from other eras to celebrate the club's rich history.
The 1962 side is famed for taking Lydbrook's village team into the last 32 of the FA Amateur Challenge Cup (now the FA Vase), but plenty of others helped turn Lydbrook into a non-league powerhouse during the 1950s and 60s.
More than 70 guests attended the reunion at the Lydbrook clubhouse.
Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Keith Burkinshaw and the FA's Dick were the special guests, and both fielded questions on a wide range of football topics, from their memories of playing in the 1960s to the make-up of the current England team.
Lydbrook committee man Malcolm Jones told stories from the 1962 cup run – explaining how the run came together and the consequences of being thrust in the national spotlight.
Lydbrook's success meant they missed a lot of the preliminary cup matches the following season, but their progress on the field was generally hampered by the heavy snows of 1963.
