Hartpury student Charlie Robb has further cemented his status as one of the UK’s leading university golfers, securing victory at the English and Welsh Championships, his second major title in just two weeks.

The win continues a remarkable run of form for Charlie, who now sits comfortably at the top of the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges) Order of Merit rankings, making him the current number one university golfer in the UK.

Charlie, who is studying MSc Sports Management completed both his A-levels and undergraduate degree at the institution.

He has progressed through Hartpury’s high-performance golf pathway to become one of the most consistent and successful players on the university circuit.

His recent triumph follows his victory at the prestigious Exeter Trophy, where he demonstrated exceptional composure to win in a play-off after finishing five under par across 54 holes.

His development has been supported closely by Hartpury’s golf programme, working under the guidance of lead technical coach Gareth James. He is part of a strong cohort of Hartpury golfers, including close friend and former student Eliot Baker, who is currently ranked number one in England and has recently signed with a management company.

Matthew Ellis, Golf Academy Manager at Hartpury University and Hartpury College said: “Charlie’s recent results reflect the consistency, discipline and professionalism he brings to his game every day.

“To win two major events in such a short space of time and lead the BUCS Order of Merit so convincingly is a fantastic achievement.

“What’s particularly pleasing is that Charlie has developed through the full Hartpury pathway, from A-levels through to postgraduate study, and has fully embraced the support available to him.

“Alongside players like Eliot, he sets the standard for what can be achieved here.

“We’re incredibly proud of him and excited to see what he can accomplish over the next year.”
