SUE Nancollas won the Ladies’ June Medal at Forest Hills with a par 72 ahead of Carolyn Thompson and Jean Hosford, writes Geoff Norris.

The Reg Harding Greensome Pairs Medal was the Seniors’ latest ‘Honours Board’ competition.

The winners were Gerald Woodley and Ashley Drew with 82-14-68, two shots ahead of Richard Keeble and Geoff Norris who beat Phil Gwynn and Joe Liddington by the same margin.

The Saturday morning competition for the members, was The Pirates Trophy, that was a Yellow Tee Stableford.

Ian Huxstep, won the Yellow Tee Stableford Pirates Trophy with 39.

He took just 31 shots on the back nine including five birdies and an eagle two on the 10th.

Steve Jones was second with 38 and Pete Walters third on countback with 36 from Ryan McDonald and Simon Killen.

Captain Connor Mullen had far from his strongest side for the A Team’s North Gloucestershire Foursomes visit to Broadway.

In the opener, Hayden Burford and Ross Jenkins took a well deserved half.

Lee Ayres and Lee Hanson took their match to the final green, before losing, one down.

Fraser Freeman-Jones and Paul ‘Sty’ Williams then lost 3&2 followed by two consecutive ‘dog licences’ as Luke Martin and Phil Evans, and Luke Jobson and Nick Jacobs lost 7 &6.

The Captain, alongside Josh Goode, registered a win in the last stanza, shaking on the 16th, winning 4&2 for Broadway 4.5-1.5 Forest Hills.

There were more than 70 entries for the Committee Cup, a 36-hole Nett Medal , was won by Steve Graham with 89-23 -66, ahead of Paul Morphey on countback. Steven Thomson was third with 67.

Eddy Annis, had a hole-in-one on the eighth and Scott Ayres and Jaques Malan both eagled the 16th.

Despite a number of knocks-out being contested, over 40 Seniors were involved in the quirky, Four Clubs and a Putter Stableford, off yellow tees.

Phil Leonard edged out John Auton on countback after they finished on 41.

Gareth Bell was third with 39 on countback from Terry Davies.

The Seniors’ Triangular Trophy saw friends from the Lydney and Forest of Dean clubs visit Mile Ene.

The a 12-a-side, Individual Stableford had three handicap categories with the top 10 scores counting.

In the absence of Seniors ‘Captain Doyle, Kev Greening led the home team, scoring 34 in the opening trio with Lydney Captain Ade Carter on and Forest of Dean’s Jerry Bolster, who was standing in for Dave Donoghue, on 31 points.

Barry Klein was Forest Hills’ top scorer with 38 points which was matched by Phil Hopkins of Forest of Dean

Lydney’s joint top scorers were Mark Robinson and Brian Nice who returned a level 36.

Forest Hills jettisoned scores of 26 and 24, The Forest of Dean discarded a pair of 26s, and Lydney dropped a 23 and 21.

The result of Forest of Dean 332, Lydney 324 and Forest Hills 318 meant the boys from Bells retained the trophy.

In his victory speech, Jerry Bolster thanked the hosts for the hospitality, the greens staff for the condition of the course.

He said the banter around the tables bodes well for the future of thie competition, that was launched by the 2021 Seniors’ Captains, Alan Robinson, from Lydney, George Legge, of the Forest of Desn and Forest Hills’ Geoff Norris.
