The second leg of the Miners’ Lamp Trophy opened with Forest Hills captains, Kev and Clive Winward losing one down, against Forest of Dean skipper Dave Donoghue and Keith Marfell, writes Geoff Norris.
Roger Hall and Geoff Norris evened the scores beating Dave Tingle and Paul Adams, 3&2.
The home team won the next four matches with Mark Barnard and Neil James losing 5&3 against Jerry Bolster and Chas Challis and Barry Klein and Ian Lovering lost 5&4 to Steve Tucker and Rob Tomlinson.
Dave Howard and Adrian Vines were four up with six to play, against Frank Beech and Mike Ryder, before the home pair won one up.
Phil Gwynne and Paul A Adams lost two down against Trevor Hallett and Martin Weller.
Mark Graham and Mike Steward halved against Pete Shingfield and Kevin McEntee.
A 4&3 win for Tony Laws and Paul Sologub against Dave Elsmore and Peter Hoare meant a of match result of Forest of Dean 5.5-2.5 Forest Hills but Forest of Dean 7.5-8.5 Forest Hills overall.
Mike Connon won the Ian Smart Memorial Trophy,, with a three under 88-19-69.
Ian Lovering was second on 70 with David Howard, Michael Simmonds and Mike Wallis completing the podium.
Steve Jones held his Committee Away Day at Newport and for the second consecutive year the trophy was won by Vice Captain Gary Davies.
Olwen Simpson won the Scratch Cup to become champion.
Captain Carol Verrier won the Scratch Cup Bronze, and Jenny Ellway won the Rabbits Cup.
Nick Jacobs won Division One of the Saturday Stableford with a three under 39 points.
Theo Roberts won Division Two on 39, a point ahead of brother Henry. Darren Passway was third with 36 points. Nick Jacobs eagled the 10th.
Connor Mullan and the A team needed a a good result against Ross in their battle towards the lower end of the North Gloucestershire Foursomes.
Lee Hanson and Josh Goode won 2&1. before James Prior and Matt McGirr lost one down.
The captain and Luke Jobson y lost 5&3.
The home team went back in front when Martyn Walker and Paul ‘Sty’ Williams, won one up.
Hayden Burford and Ross Jenkins lost one down.
In the last match Jamie Smith and Nathan Tawney won 5&4 win for a 3-3 result.
With to the A team match going out in front, Steve Jones and his B team had to wait to get their match with Ross underway.
Steve and Gary Davies earned a hard fought half while Pat Simcoe and Jeremy McCulloch won 3&2.
Tony Laws and Toby Turp, halved before David Wilding and Steve Graham won one up
With the home team having not lost a match, the pressure was on Finlay Sparkes and Dan Morse who held their nerve to record another half.
In the final match, Ollie Cooper and Josh Davies won one up for a final score of
Forest Hills 4.5-2 Ross-on-Wye.
In the September Medal Lee Ayres won Division One with a two under gross 70, nett 68.
Jason Meek won Division Two with 80-10-70. John Watkins was second with 71, and Derek Freeman-Jones third on 75. Division Three was won by Pat Simcoe with 85-15-70. Henry Roberts was second with nett 71, with Kian Skidmore third with nett 73.
