THE Forest of Dean under-11 girls stormed to victory in the final race of the season at Tewkesbury to take the Gloucestershire Cross-Country League title.
Bethan Samuel led the team to glory by finishing second overall.
She was followed by Katie Kearsey (eighth), Eleanor Flack (ninth), Lily Crawley (20th), Selbe Hopkin-Creed (25th), Emma Williams (27th) and Harriet Kearsey (28th).
The Forest team was level on points with North Somerset going into this final race and needed a good result to seize gold.
With 11 teams taking part at Tewkesbury and 16 through the league season, finishing first is no mean achievement.
There were some solid performances from the under-11 boys at Tewkesbury.
Carl Crowley (13th), Drew Dixon (15th), Freddie Moir (18th), Jensen Coppen (24th) and Robert Wellstad (41st) helped the team to fourth spot, both on the day and overall.
Under-13s runner Joshua Matthews came fourth in his race.
