WHITECROFT Reserves took home the West Dean Charities Senior trophy after a 2-0 win over Coleford Town.
The last of this year’s West Dean Charity League finals took place on Sunday at Worrall Hill and featured North Gloucestershire League Premier Division outfit Coleford take on Division One side Whitecroft Reserves.
The first half saw neither side create too much in the way of chances and it was no surprise that the scoreline remained at 0-0 at the break.
The second half was only 4 minutes old when Shane Reeves broke through the Coleford defence and fired Whitecroft into the lead.
The Greeks were now dominating the game and it was only a matter of time until they got their second.
Carl James was the man who got the next goal as Whitecroft increased their lead in the 52nd minute.
Coleford tried to get back into the game and on the hour mark Ricky Beckett palmed a Coleford effort around the post.
With time running out another Coleford effort hit the post but was cleared by the Whitecroft defence.
In the final minute Whitecroft had a great chance to make it 3-0 when Stuart Saving received the ball in front of goal, but he shot straight at the keeper.
Thankfully for Saving’s teammates his miss proved not to be a decisive one as Whitecroft celebrated.
