A NIGHTMARE week for Cinderford Town has drawn to a close with equipment stolen from a youth team manager’s home and ill-discipline dominating discussion.
All of the club’s Under-18s footballs, bibs, cones and water bottles were stolen from the home of manager Brian Burke in Buckshaft last Wednesday evening.
A man took the equipment from the back garden of the home in Coomb Drive at around 11:30pm on September 21.
CCTV footage from a neighbour shows a man entering the premises and leaving with water bottles in tow. The video has been passed on to police.
Burke has urged anyone with information to contact police quoting incident number .
On top of that, Cinderford Town’s Southern Premier League home match with Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday was marred by indiscipline, leading chairman Stuart Tait to issue a statement.
Captain Josh Nelmes and winger Blaine Waugh were both sent off in the 2-1 defeat, while co-manager Chris Burns was also sent to the Causeway stands for his protests to the referee.
“Now the dust has settled after what was quite a day at Cinderford Town last Saturday, I felt its was appropriate that I review the performance and discipline presently at the club,” he said.
“Although away on holiday, I’ve had many fans and committee members views regarding the discipline and performance, some positive and some not so.
“Although I adore passion in our young side I will not condone what was seen on Saturday and some matches before this, it’s time we got a grip with the discipline on and off the pitch.
“Last season we held one of the best overall discipline stats in the country and were rewarded for it at the Annual AGM, and its my intention to bring that back.
“I started the discussion after Saturday’s game with the Management team and we all know what our responsibilities are going forward and if no improvement is made then stronger action will be agreed by the committee and enforced immediately.
“As a club this season we have had so many positives and its my intention to have many more as chairman.”
