YOUTH team managers Brian Burke and Rich Wilkins will take the reigns at Cinderford Town as caretaker managers this weekend.
Burke, the club’s Under-18s manager, and Wilkins, who is Town’s head of youth football, will temporarily take charge following the resignation of joint manager Chris Burns on Tuesday night.
Burns left the club in the same evening as Cinderford’s 2-0 home defeat against Cirencester Town at The Causeway, having taken on the job with co-manager Allan Gough in the summer.
The pair took on a serious rebuilding job, creating a new squad almost from scratch with the exceptions of title-winning trio Josh Nelmes, Sam Hunt and Lewis Fletcher.
Burns resigned following Town’s 13th loss of their maiden Southern League Premier Division campaign, as they sit bottom of the table with seven points from 16 games.
Gough has also left the club.
A statement released by the club read: “Brain Burke (UEFA B) and Rich Wilkins (FA Level 2) will be caretaker managers in control of the team for Saturday’s home game against FA Cup giant killers Chesham United.
“The vacant team manager position will be advertised as soon as possible.”
