PAUL Michael lamented Cinderford Town’s performance in their 5-0 loss at Mangotsfield United last week as ‘unquestionably the worst’ of his tenure as manager.

But he added he was largely pleased with the reaction in the 1-0 home loss to AFC Totton that followed in midweek.

Ahead of Town’s 2-0 Southern League Division One South win over Larkhall Athletic last Saturday, Michael admitted that his side were ‘desperate’ to pull themselves back into contention for a play-off place.

“The Mangotsfield match last Saturday was unquestionably the worst performance since I arrived at the club,” he wrote.

“We were so poor at the basics of football, marking, tracking runners, blocking crosses and shots."
