Cinderford Town 3-1 Bishop’s Cleeve
Southern League Division One South & West
CINDERFORD Town earned their tenth home victory of the season in an often scrappy affair against Gloucestershire rivals Bishop’s Cleeve in a fixture filled with sub-text.
Town manager John Brough left the visitors last summer to kick-start a revolution at The Causeway, while ex-Cinderford defender Leroy Odeiro and midfielder Jordan Bryan lined up for the Mitres.
It wasn’t the calibre of football supporters have come to expect from Brough’s men, who were unable to enforce their brand of high-tempo passing.
Ethan Moore, the hosts’ top scorer this term, took his tally to 15 with a brace, while Nick Rhodes opened the scoring with an excellently-taken header 14 minutes in.
Cleeve equalised after 22 minutes when Elliot Kennedy tapped into an empty net, having seen his side catch Town cold with a low cross from the by-line.
Moore restored the lead five minutes later, ending a string of upwards headers in the Cleeve area with a finish from point-blank range.
The former Evesham United man then made the game safe after an hour, shrugging off the attention of Cleeve’s Aaron Drake to power into the area before expertly placing his shot into the bottom right corner.
