LYDNEY Town Under-15s have just completed a memorable unbeaten season.

The team have won both the Severn Valley Youth League and cup.

The league was fought out by Lydney and Goldon Hill, a strong Bristol side but Town won a winner-takes-all fixture in early May.

Goals from Josh Alford and Daunte Davis secured a 2-1 win after a very tight game played at Swan Road and a jubilant Lydney side were presented with the league trophy by the Severn Valley Youth League chairman.

Three days later, Lydney took on third-placed Longlevens in the league cup final at Harrow Hill’s Larksfield Road ground.

Lydney took their time getting into the game but eventually ran out 4-1 winners and lifted the cup.

The Severnside club’s goals came from Mason Cunliffe, Declan Loew, Alford and Luke Harris.

The boys are led by head coach Dean Morgan and coach John Underwood and play their home games at Yorkley FC.

“The team would like to thank the club for their continued support,” said Morgan.

Paul Jenkins from sponsor Pro-Door recently presented the team with new training tops and continue to support the team which is really appreciated.

“[It’s been] a fantastic season going unbeaten and winning the league and cup double.”
