SOUDLEY-BORN winger Luke Thomas will leave Bristol Rovers this summer after the club confirmed the winger is among the players departing following the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Thomas, 27, has made 158 appearances for the Gas across two spells and played a key role in their promotion from League Two during the 2021/22 season.

The former Derby County and Barnsley player first joined Rovers on loan in July 2021 and quickly became a regular under Joey Barton.

He scored once and registered five assists as the Pirates secured automatic promotion to League One before returning to Barnsley at the end of the campaign.

Thomas later rejoined Bristol Rovers permanently in June 2023 on a three-year deal and enjoyed his most productive season during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Forest winger scored five goals and added six assists that season, including a dramatic last-minute winner against Portsmouth on Boxing Day.

However, his involvement became more limited under manager Steve Evans during the latest campaign and he has not featured in recent weeks.

Rovers officially confirmed Thomas’ departure in their retained list following the conclusion of the season.

A club statement thanked Thomas for his “efforts and commitment” during his time at the Memorial Stadium and highlighted his contribution to the promotion-winning side.

Speaking after announcing the retained list, Evans said he wanted to thank every player and member of staff for their contributions since his arrival in December.

Thomas will become a free agent this summer and is expected to attract interest from clubs across the English Football League.

Thomas progressed through Cheltenham Town before spells at Derby County and Barnsley, also gaining loan experience at Gloucester City, Coventry City and Ipswich Town. He leaves Bristol Rovers as a well-regarded figure in Gloucestershire football after a notable EFL career.
