THERE have been plenty of moves in and out of the Causeway in recent months, but the last week has perhaps been busier than usual.

Cinderford Town manager Paul Michael has moved to sign attacking midfielder Dan McDonald from Welsh side Goytre and re-signed goalkeeper Cameron Clarke following his release from Southern League Premier Division outfit Merthyr Town.

Clarke, who left the Causeway in search of regular football at Merthyr, was let go after not featuring as much as expected for the crisis-hit club.

He will provide competition for Town keeper Joe Perry, who appeared to pick up an injury in the 4-1 loss at Kidlington on Saturday.

McDonald made his debut for Town in that heavy defeat and should provide some attacking flair in the absence of the injured Sammie Hicks.

Living in Coleford, McDonald is one of few local lads to feature for Town this season.

He played for Aston Villa as a youngster and represented England’s schoolboy side in the Victory Shield, scoring against Wales and has also played for Evesham United and Monmouth Town.

He is now joined by Lorcan Sheehan, a former Cinderford Town captain under title-winning boss John Brough and steely midfielder.

Sheehan joins from North Leigh having left Town for Evesham United in 2016.

Another former Cinderford captain, Josh Nelmes, has moved on once more.

Cinderford-raised Nelmes has joined Southern League Division One South & West league leaders Taunton Town after leaving Mangotsfield United.
