FOREST of Dean prodigy Luke Thomas has been named in the England Under-20s squad for their upcoming Euro Elite League campaign.

Barnsley forward Thomas has earned his first national call-up after being picked by head coach Keith Downing on Friday for the matches against the Netherlands and Switzerland.

England take on the Dutch at Shrewsbury Town’s home ground, Montgomery Waters on Thursday September 5 before travelling to Basel to take on the Swiss on Monday September 9.

The squad includes Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes and new Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke, who remains at Barnsley’s arch rivals Leeds United on loan.

Cheltenham Town academy product Thomas took to Twitter to express his excitement, calling his selection a ‘proud moment’ and said he was ‘looking forward to meeting up with the lads’.
