CINDERFORD Town captain Josh Nelmes says he will reject an approach to sign him from county rivals Bishop’s Cleeve.
Nelmes has found himself on the periphery of manager Paul Michael’s first-choice backline, appearing as a substitute in their last four games.
But the 23-year-old is determined to prove himself at the Causeway once more instead of linking up with Steve Cleal at Kayte Lane.
Nelmes is also likely to turn down a move to fellow Southern League side Shortwood United.
“I decided to stay, I’ve been on the bench the last couple of games and it’s from my own doing,” he said.
“I had a below average game so I can’t argue with Paul’s decision to leave me out.
“The lads have had a good run and I’ve not had chance to prove myself because of that, I want to stay to fight for my place.
“I love a challenge and this is perfect for me to prove I should be in the team.
“Obviously they put in a seven day approach for me after they had seen I was on the bench a few times.
“I’ve known their manger for a few years now so he already knows what sort of player I am.
“At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, the Cleeve boss made it very clear what he wanted from his side and the plans he had for the rest of the season.
“I think we spoke on the Tuesday night before training with Cinderford. I had a chat with Paul about it and then it took a few days to make my mind up really.
“I’m good enough to be in the side, I just need to prove that after having an off game.”
