NATASHA Hunt had a mixed tournament with her national teammates in the Women’s Sevens Series in Sao Paulo ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games.

Hunt, from Drybrook, scored two tries in England’s second pool game – a 24-12 win against hosts Brazil – after they defeated Japan 38-5.

France proved too much for Hunt’s side, however, defeating them 17-12 in the final pool game before England lost 22-12 to USA in the quarter final.

A third defeat followed to Fiji in the plate semi final, before England claimed seventh place in the series with another win against the home team.

“Some of our play was very good at times but our decision making needs to improve,” Head coach Simon Middleton said.

“We started key matches too slowly and ended up chasing the game before we had got out of the blocks.

“It is also apparent that there are still areas of our game where currently lack the quality the top nations have at present.”
