ENGLAND and county cricketers will be pedalling through Wyedean on Monday (October 16) as part of a five-day 350-mile charity bike ride.
Ashes winner Geraint Jones will be returning to his roots, having started his career in England at Lydney Cricket Club, alongside ex-Glamorgan and Forest-raised batsman Steve James.
And the cricketers, including Jones’ 2005 Australia-bashing team mate Marcus Trescothick and fellow ex-Test stars Rob Key, Tim Bresnan, Matthew Maynard and Gavin Hamilton, will be calling in at the club around 2.30pm having earlier stopped for a lunch break at Ruardean CC.
They’ll be finishing their day’s work at Monmouth School, where James was a pupil, around 3.20pm.
Retired wicketkeeper-batsman Jones, played for Lydney CC as an overseas player when he first came to Britain in the mid-1990s, while James was raised in the town.
The Big Bike Ride 3 is raising money for the PCA Benevolent Fund and the Tom Maynard Trust.
