JUST four years ago, Alex Cuthbert was playing alongside his dad for his local village team Westbury-on-Severn.
On Saturday, the 6ft 5in winger helped his adopted country Wales win a famous Triple Crown by beating England at Twickenham.
Proud father Pete Cuthbert, a Minsterworth farmer, was in the Twickenham stands on Saturday with wife Caroline and other members of the Cuthbert family – cheering on Wales rather than England.
Pete told The Forester: "I still have to pinch myself to believe it's happening.
"A few years ago we'd sit and watch the Five Nations together on the TV. Now my lad's playing in it.
"Things have happened so fast. Just getting into the Welsh sevens team was great, then Alex hoped at the start of this season to get a few games for the Cardiff Blues while a lot of their regulars were away at the World Cup.
"I think it did him good to go to Wales and get away from the area, to get out of the goldfish bowl. I also think his game developed dramatically through playing sevens, he really improved his core ball skills."
