BREAM Rugby Club have appointed Dave Emery as their player/coach for the coming season.

The 33-year-old back-row forward has been an integral part of Lydney' s National League squad for much of the past decade.

Lock Jimmy Roberts and winger Tai Lakabuka are also following Emery from Lydney to Bream, while Matt James has rejoined the club from Berry Hill.

Bream expect to make more big signings before the real action starts.

Emery said: "Lydney is my club and always will be, but I'm coming to the end of my playing life and want to get into coaching. Hopefully, this is a stepping stone. I don't know how things will work out but maybe one day I can go back to Lydney as a coach."

Emery played for Bream as a junior before switching to Lydney to play for their colts team.

He added: "Unfortunately, Bream were one of four teams relegated to Gloucestershire Two last season, but the club is ambitious."

Bream won't be running a second XV in the County Reserve League this season but they do plan to launch a veterans' team.
