CAROL Verrier held her captain’s drive-in at Forest Hills, writes Geoff Norris.

The Three Clubs and a Putter competition that followed, was won by Karen Alexander with 39. Sally Meek was second, and Amanda Jones third.

Sue Nancollas won the prize for correctly forecasting the distance of Carols’ drive.

With the weather set fair, and the course drying out, the Seniors took part in an Individual Stableford on Thursday, with the golfing attire very much dominated by the plethora of Tank Tops on show, and also quite a few of the entrants, exposing their legs in shorts for the first time this year.

In the Seniors’ Individual Stableford on Thursday, Tim Hollingsworth and Colin Baird with a level par 36 needed countback to separate them at the top of the podium. Phil Gwynne was third.

Brian Evans won Division Two, with a one under 35. Phil Manns was second and Terry Hook third.

Colin Laver was probably surprised to find out he had won Division Three with a four over 32, with Michael Simmonds second and Trevor Baker third.

Phil Manns won the first trophy competition of the year, the March Vase Stableford with 45 off his 16 handicap.

The Derek Parker Trophy on Sunday, which heralds the beginning of summer competitions needed countback as the top six pairs al registered 43 with James Hodgson and Jacob Scott winning.

The competition was preceded by Steve Jones’s Captains Drive which measured 209 yards.

Steve thanked his committee, especially John Watkins for sorting out the competition results, and Jean and the clubhouse staff.

The Seniors’ Monday competition was a Prime Numbers Team Stableford where numbers divisible only by themselves and one were worth double,.

Phil Manns, Paul Taylor and Roy Phillips won with 139.
