ASTON Ingham 1st XI were well and truly stumped by Stroud CC in their West of England Premier Gloucestershire clash - falling to a nine-wicket away loss on Saturday.

The village side never really got going against the hosts' stifling attack, five players reaching double figures but departing without pushing on, as they were all out for 115 in the 43rd over.

Gus Carini-Roberts managed 24 before being stumped, while Nic Merrin (14), Frankie Gooding (14), Alexander Gooding (13) and Angus Bartlett (11) made starts only to fall.

Gooding snapped up a catch off a James delivery second over to dismiss the Stroud opener for a duck with just one run on the board.

But it proved false hope, as the hosts knocked off the rest of the runs without further loss, reaching 116-1 in the 22nd over.

The 2nds made a better battle of it at home to Arcadians Nine Elms 2nds after being set a target of 195-9 in 40 overs, Clyde Breetzke with three wickets and Ethan Drew-White and Luke Ward two apiece.

But despite a 97-run fifth-wicket stand between Will Green (51) and Dave Lacey (43), following 27 for Josh Loade and 21 for Tim Dulson, the run chase fell 20 runs short as they finished on 175-8.

Tom Parsons fired 75 for the 3rds as they scored 173-9 at home to Westbury 2nds.

But hopes of victory were laid waste by the visitors' openers, who reached 174 without loss in 34 overs for a 10-wicket win.

And a six-wicket defeat for the 4ths away to Ruardean Hill 2nds made it four looses from four for Aston, the visitors all out for 157 in the penultimate 39th over before the hosts dashed to 158-4 in 25 overs.

But former National Hunt jockey Tom Scudamore was celebrating after firing 54 off 37 balls, including two sixes and six fours, backed by Joel Fishpool with 23 and Colin Neighton with 39, before also landing a wicket.

And at least the midweek Gloucester Evening League team tasted victory, beating hosts Coopers Edge by 23 runs.

Angus Bartlett fired an unbeaten 61 backed by Charlie O'Neill with 45 and Mark Mathias 21 as they reached 155-3 off 20 overs, with Coopers then restricted to 132-7.

Elsewhere, Redmarley delivered a well-rounded team performance to claim a 57-run win over Rockhampton in Gloucestershire Cricket League Division 1 on Saturday.

After choosing to bat, Redmarley put together a total of 192-8 from their 45 overs, with several key contributions throughout the innings. Ronnie Newbery led the way with 41 from 62 balls, supported by Kevin Trouw, who grafted for 42 off 84 deliveries. Craig Stow added 21 in the middle order, and late cameos from Richard Henry (17) and Andrew Green (16) pushed the score towards 200.

In response, Rockhampton never got going. Craig Stow and Andrew Green removed both openers early, while Green also claimed the wicket of William Cartlidge for a duck. With the top order crumbling to 23-3, the visitors were always chasing the game.

Harry Collins provided the only real resistance, hitting 48 from 51 balls, but he lacked support. Richard Henry and Paul Newbery each picked up two wickets to stifle any momentum, while James Holland returned to claim the final two dismissals and wrap up the innings in the 40th over.

Rockhampton were all out for 135, handing Redmarley a deserved 19-point win.
