LYDNEY Seconds secured a nail-biting win against Ruardean Hill in Division 6A of the Gloucestershire Cricket as the lower order stepped up to the plate.

After losing three wickets for two runs earlier in the innings to leave them at 78-4, the home side looked under pressure.

The task did not look any easier when the seventh wicket fell with the score on 160, leaving them 34 runs with six overs to go.

Paul Morris got his side over the line with the last of three boundaries as he posted an undefeated 23.

The three-wicket win came with barely an over to spare.

Niall Halford and Jack Batcock had put Lydney back on track taking the total from 78 to 134 in a fifth wicket partnership of 56.

Holford went for 26 to a catch off the bowling of Aaron Barnett in an innings which included four fours and a six.

Batcock hit a couple of boundaries before he ws bowled by Nick Jayne.

Jayne had earlier accounted for Dan Edmunds who hit four fours in his score of 25.

Alfie James had Dan Spencer, who opened for Lydney alongside Edmunds, caught.

Ed Jones hit the boundary three times in an innings of 21 before he was caught off Sam Skelton.

Lydney captain Ellis Boughton was caught off the bowling of Riley Pearce.

Ruardean had been put into bat and the highlight of their innings was a fourth-wicket partnership of 110 between Nick Jayne and Aaron Underwood.

Jayne was top scorer with 82 as his side set a target of 194.

His total included 11 fours before he was bowled by Halford.

Underwood was bowled by Ed Jones for 45.

Skipper Ellis Boughton took three wickets, Halford claimed two and one each for Charlie Boughton and Jones.
