THREE dominant performances defined the latest round of Hundred League fixtures on Wednesday, May 28, as Ross-on-Wye, Goodrich, and Cinderford St John all secured comfortable wins in the midweek competition.

Cinderford St John made light work of their target to claim a commanding ten-wicket victory over Tintern CC at The Hundred.

Tintern batted first and struggled to build momentum, finishing with a modest total of 100 for 7 from their allotted 100 balls.

The bowling effort from Cinderford was led by Liam Cottrell, who delivered a superb spell of 3 wickets for just 8 runs in 20 balls. Safseer Puthuparambil provided vital support, taking 2 wickets while conceding 27 runs. Jack Cook and Daniel Kibble also contributed with economical bowling and key breakthroughs, helping to keep Tintern’s score in check.

When it came to the chase, Cinderford’s opening batsmen, Daniel Kibble and Mitchell Scorer, made light work of the target. Both batsmen remained unbeaten, scoring 53 and 35 respectively, and guided their side home with ease.

Their unbroken partnership saw the team complete the chase in only 67 balls without losing a wicket, underscoring Cinderford’s dominance across both innings.

Meanwhile, Parkend’s Midweek XI endured a tough outing as they were comfortably beaten by eight wickets away at Goodrich.

Electing to bat first, Parkend managed 96 runs for the loss of nine wickets from their 20 overs. The innings lacked significant partnerships, with Paterson top-scoring on 20 and Fairbank adding 16, but overall the batting line-up struggled to build momentum.

Goodrich’s disciplined bowling attack was the key to their success. Lewis impressed with a three-wicket haul for just 11 runs in his four overs, dismantling the Parkend top order. Porter and Waldis were also instrumental, each claiming two wickets while keeping runs to a minimum.

Chasing a target of 97, Goodrich made light work of the task, reaching the total inside 16 overs with the loss of just two wickets. Waldis remained unbeaten on 37, while Lewis again contributed with the bat, finishing not out on 24 to seal a comfortable victory for the Bison.

In another fixture, Lydney Midweek XI were left to rue a costly 34 wides as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat away at Ross-on-Wye. Despite putting up a respectable total the excess extras proved to be a significant factor.

Batting first, Lydney posted 105 for 4 from their 100 balls, with Nelmes (25*) and Kemsley (19*) leading the way after early wickets put pressure on the innings. Krishnaw was the standout bowler for Ross, taking 2 for 21.

Ross’s response was steady and assured, anchored by Anil who struck an unbeaten 35 from 26 balls. Krishnaw supported with a valuable 21 runs. Despite losing three wickets, Ross cruised home with 14 balls remaining, benefiting from Lydney’s generous extras tally of 38 wides and no balls.

Elsewhere in the league, Ruardean Hill were awarded the points after Huntley Hawks conceded their scheduled fixture, bringing an early end to that encounter.
