THE LATEST round of the Forest of Dean Hundred League action saw standout performances across the region, with Tintern, Monmouthshire Menaces and Cinderford St John all recording impressive wins.
Tyrone Hoskins delivered a brutal display of power hitting to lead Tintern to a convincing seven wicket win over Ruardean Hill in the Forest of Dean Hundred League.
After choosing to field, Tintern restricted the visitors to 172 for 6 from their 100 balls, with Hoskins later smashing an unbeaten 83 from just 34 deliveries including nine sixes to chase down the target in only 82 balls.
Ruardean’s innings was built around a blistering 77 from Aaron Underwood, who hit nine fours and five sixes in his 36 ball knock. After early wickets left them 3 for 2, Underwood and Alfie Jayne (52 off 36) shared a 123 run stand, but the innings lost momentum once both fell. Hoskins (3 for 35) and Stuart Williams (2 for 18) wrapped up the innings.
In reply, Williams (24 off 15) and Hoskins added 56 for the first wicket before the latter went into overdrive. Andrew Ridley chipped in with a rapid 36 not out from 16 balls to seal the win. Sam Skelton (2 for 18) briefly slowed things down but Tintern’s firepower proved decisive.
Elsewhere, Monmouthshire Menaces cruised to a ten wicket win over Goodrich Bison, chasing down 135 with 26 balls to spare.
Goodrich chose to bat and Andrew Brown’s fluent 52 off 38 balls offered some hope. Jack Lewis added an unbeaten 30 but despite 24 extras the innings lacked momentum, closing on 135 for 4. Monmouth's bowlers kept control throughout, particularly Ben Pilot who conceded just 9 runs from his 20 balls.
In response, openers Ben Lander and Matthew Jones dominated from the start. Lander struck a rapid 69 not out from 36 balls, with seven fours and four sixes, while Jones supported with 48 not out from 30. They reached 139 without loss in just 74 balls to complete a dominant victory.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Scorer starred with the bat as Cinderford St John eased past Ross on Wye by eight wickets.
Ross elected to bat but could only post 92 for 5 from their 100 balls. Alexander Springer made 23 and Albert Johnson added 19, but no batter was able to kick on. Cinderford’s bowlers shared the load, with Jack Cook taking 2 for 23 and Liam Cottrell, Safseer Puthuparambil and William Cook claiming a wicket each. Ross were also hampered by 32 wides.
In reply, St John raced to 94 for 2 in just 65 balls. Scorer anchored the chase with 61 not out and was supported by Grantley Sims (12 not out) after Springer and Charlie Bowden took early wickets.
It was a professional and composed performance from St John, who remained in control throughout the contest. Their bowlers applied consistent pressure to restrict Ross’s scoring opportunities, while their batters showed patience and precision in the chase.
The results see St John extend their lead at the top, now two points clear with six wins from seven. Monmouth stay second with a game in hand, while Tintern move level on points with Lydney in mid table. Ruardean remain third but are being caught, and Ross stay near the bottom with just four points. Parkend remain winless.
