ASTON Ingham celebrated 40 years of village cricket at their recent annual dinner.

Held at The Chase Hotel in Ross-on-Wye on Saturday October 15, just under 100 gathered to congratulate their clubmates after another strong year.

Among the congratulations were those given to the eight junior members who have been selected to represent either county, development or district teams across Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

After a fantastic meal, and speeches, the awards were handed out by club coach Bruce Ballance, brother of current England batsman, Gary.

Andrew Bevan was awarded with the first XI Best Batsman, Bowler and All-Rounder prize while Luke Ward won the same accolade for the second XI.

Matt Davies took the Richard Hirst Award, given for most wickets in all games, while Ollie O’Neill won the most improved player award.

James Hamilton won the fielding award and Dave Skyrme garnered the support of his clubmates with the players’ player of the year award.

On Saturday November 5, the club holds its annual bonfire display at Stockings Field.

Donations are being taken in advance with entry on the night £5 for adults and £3 for those aged 18 and under.

Adult nets commence on Sunday January 15 from 8.30-10am, with junior nets from Friday February 3 from 5.30-7.30pm, all at Newent Sports Centre on Watery Lane.

Bruce Ballance will again be the lead coach at all sessions. New members are always welcome and for more information, please contact Colin Leighton on 07737 796947 or [email protected].
