LYDNEY Tennis Club held its 50th Club Championship Finals Day on Saturday.
The first ever round of finals took place in 1962, almost to the day.
Club president Maisie Hoggard played in that first Finals Day and was at the club to support this year's competitors.
The event was in doubt earlier in the week after torrential rain flooded the clubhouse, but the sun shone for the main action.
Boy's champion Jason Wong beat Harry Hale in an excellent match, 6-3, 6-2.
Beth Wilson overcame Nikki Salter 6-1, 6-4 to win the ladies' crown.
In the men's final, club coach Fraser Drew played a 90-minute thriller against youngster Rory Weaterton, eventually coming out on top, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
Nikki Salter and Caroline Stanley lost the ladies' doubles to the talented Wilson sisters, Beth and Jenny, 6-2, 7-6.
Dave Reid and Richard Dobbs won their men's doubles showdown with Martin Godwin and Mike Wyatt, 6-3, 6-3.
The mixed doubles crown went to Nikki Salter and Dave Reid, who beat Harry Hale and Caroline Stanley, 6-3, 6-2. This was Nikki's fourth appearance of the day (she also played a morning semi-final) and her first win.
