CINDERFORD director of rugby Andy Deacon refused to make excuses for his side after their 53-20 drubbing in London.

He said: "We gifted Richmond turnover ball and missed too many tackles. All season we have shipped too many tries and it's a big area of concern.

"We've had blips before but the next two home games are very important. We need to find a bit of form."

Prop Nick Selway's nasty eye injury is due to be checked out for a possible hairline fracture of the cheekbone this week, but he's hoping it's nothing and he'll be fit to line up at home to Fylde this Saturday (2.30pm).

On Monday, the swelling had gone down and the bruising was fading.

He said: "I went off after a clash of heads in the first half but came back on. Then I went to tackle their nine and he caught me with his foot. It was accidental."

Because they had used all of their replacements, Cinderford had to play the last 20 minutes with 14 men once Selway went off. They also played 10 minutes of the first half a man down, following Nev Codlin's yellow card.

Selway said: "Richmond worked hard and wanted it more than us.

"Conditions were perfect, there were no excuses. They played well off the cuff and always had three or four men in support.

"The first 20 minutes we were all over them, but we made a lot of errors in open play. Richmond cut some good lines and we missed one-on-one tackles."

Selway believes Saturday's upcoming game is massive for the Foresters, to stem their slide down the league.

He added: "We owe Fylde for what they did to us up there.

"But most of all, we need to do it for ourselves and the supporters."
