THE Cinderford squad is in an intense period of pre-season training under the leadership of Director of Rugby Paul Morris and Head Coach Clive Stuart-Smith.

The players have returned from a short rest following the club’s best-ever National One finish with the coaching team focusing on conditioning, skills and game drills.

The curtain-raiser to the 2022-23 campaign will consist of four pre-season games.

These will enable the players to hone their skills, take a few knocks to condition them for competitive games to come, allow the coaches to identify areas to focus on in training and new signings to be embedded into the team.

They start on Saturday (August 13) with a visit by Birmingham Moseley with kick-off at 3pm.

Cinderford host Matson on August 18, kick off 7.15pm, followed by a trip to Llandovery RFC on August 20.

The final game August is on August 25 with at Championship League Hartpury University with a 7.30pm kick off.

A club spokesman said: “Entry to the pre-season games is free and we invite all to come along to the home games and enjoy the hospitality at Dockham Road while watching high quality rugby.

“The squad members are looking sharp, and we are sure these pre-season games will be as competitive as the league games to follow.”

The National League One season kicks off with an away game at Rosslyn Park on September 3.

The first league game at Dockham Road is on September 10 against Birmingham Moseley with a 3pm kick-off.
