STRIKER Lee Smith scored twice, including once from the penalty-spot, as Cinderford saw off Lydney Town 3-0 at The Causeway on Tuesday night.

Scott Wilson, brought in on loan from Gloucester City, fired the other Cinderford goal.

It was a plucky effort from Lydney, with the likes of Jamie Addis and Adam Price impressing.

However, Cinderford's superior fitness was a key factor in ensuring they always had the upper hand.

Cinderford manager Steve Peters said: "I wanted our boys to get amongst them and work hard, which they did.

"Lydney had a good 20 minute spell but I thought we could have won by a few more. We created quite a lot and our keeper Ben John didn't have much to do."
