ALEX Cuthbert scored a sensational try on his test debut for the British & Irish Lions in their nail-biting 23-21 defeat of Australia in Brisbane on Saturday morning (BST).
At the start of the tour Cuthbert, the farmer's son from Minsterworth, was not expected to make the Test side, but he continues to take every opportunity that comes his way.
He was given his Lions jersey by Sir Ian McGeechan, saying: "he's not a big guy but you can feel his presence and of course his words make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end."
Alex's crucial try – one of two scored by the Lions – came in the second half when he came off his wing and charged through three defenders to cross from 20 metres out.
Alex's father Pete was there to witness the first test, which was also his first live Lions game.
"I've never been to a Lions rugby game before so that was a very special way to do it," he said.
"I'm chuffed to bits for him."
