National League One
Fylde 44
Cinderford 12
EXPERIENCED centre Jack Adams says people should not write Cinderford off on the back of one heavy defeat.
The Foresters were well beaten by a hungry Fylde side who produced their best rugby of the season to earn themselves a six-try bonus point victory.
Adams (pictured with ball, below) said: "It's hard to explain but things just didn't fall into place for us. We didn't have any rhythm. We made life hard for ourselves but it's only a problem if it happens again.
"It's not like we didn't work hard or prepare properly. I know a couple of Fylde players quite well and after speaking to them they felt under a bit of pressure and targeted this game."
The match started brightly for the visitors, but they failed to take a great opportunity to open the scoring.
Lloyd Stapleton broke clear and looked certain to score after skipping past full-back Olly Viney, but he passed to supporting centre Rob Winchle who, yards from the try line, was caught by a fantastic covering tackle.
Fylde made Cinderford pay when centre Chris Briers charged through for a converted score on 11 minutes.
It was all Fylde after this and they took complete control of the match. Warren Spragg, Briers and Ollie Brennand added further scores, with the boot of De La Harpe making it 26-0 by the break.
Cinderford had the better of the early stages of the second half and winger Nev Codlin touched down for a try which Mark Davies converted. Codlin raced through to get on the end of a Jack Adams kick.
However, it was only a temporary respite.
De La Harpe kicked a penalty before Fylde number eight Evan Stewart found space down the blindside to score an unconverted try.
Sam Arnott crossed for a second try for Cinderford but Fylde did not let up and Spragg intercepted a loose pass to race in under the posts.
Adams added: "People might look at us now and think that's it, but what's exciting is we haven't played near our full potential.
"This is an exciting league full of dangerous players.
"I always knew it was a good standard but the only real difference to the Championship is in the execution. Teams in the Championship take more of their chances."
