A TEENAGE boy suffered serious injuries after his car crashed into a tree.

The Redmarley youth, 17, was driving towards Ledbury in his blue Citroen Saxo when it collided with a tree near Dymock.

He was air-lifted to Frenchay hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a serious condition.

The crash happened at around 10.35am on Sunday on the B4216 Ledbury Road.

Witness Phil Hurrell said: "I heard a car whizzing past and saw it lose control on the corner and it smashed into a tree.

"The driver's side door of the car hit the tree so the young man is lucky to be alive.

"There was a fatal crash here some years ago and another crash more recently.

"There's a 60mph limit here and I think this is a road that just needs calming down."

The road was closed for more than three hours whilst an investigation was carried out.
