FLOWER arranger Trish Ducker of Yorkley was one of three ladies chosen to arrange the flowers on the High Altar of Westminster Abbey for the 600th anniversary service for the Battle of Agincourt.

Mrs Ducker, a member of the Lydney and Severnside Flower Club, and her husband Ken spent the day before the service, decking out the altar.

The service was conducted by Princess Michael of Kent, an acknowledged historical author.

Ken Ducker said: “Obviously Trish was delighted to be honoured in this way. We drove up together and I was allowed to park in the Dean’s Yard.

“She was one of three ladies from the Three Counties Wales and South Wales area of NAFAS, the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies, to be chosen. The other two were from Gloucester and Cheltenham.

“I was also given a special dispensation to take photographs in the abbey, which is normally frowned on.”

The service commemorated the Battle of Agincourt in1415, when Henry V defeated a much larger French army. Henry V, who was born in Monmouth, is buried in the abbey only a few yards from the altar.
