I READ with absolute dismay that there may have to be a public inquiry into the proposed Asda plans in Cinderford.
Surely after all the years that the residents of Cinderford have been wanting an alternative to the Co-op everything that needs to be said, has been said.
Cinderford is a growing town and desperately needs another store. We want choice and jobs, is that too much to ask?
Please tell me why Cinderford has to work so hard to get another store?
The Co-op do not object to other stores being built in other towns in the forest – what is there about Cinderford that they must object so strongly to? Is there a hidden agenda here?
They say that they want people to shop in the town, but now have started selling household goods – all of which are available in the very good general stores in the town.
I am hoping that the higher authorities will see sense and not waste any more time and money on further inquiries, and let the building of Asda commence.
