IT ought not to be necessary for me to tell the voters of the Forest of Dean that in a democracy responsibility is shared between the voters and those that they elect to represent them.

This quaint idea has yet to percolate among pusillanimous English voters who watch as their once great nation is destroyed by British parliamentarians entirely contemptuous of their wishes and vital interests. So be it. But those of your ancestors who died in 1939-1945 have given you the freedom to be indifferent to those values for which they were prepared to sacrifice their lives and in many cases did sacrifice their lives.

In 1997, 2001 and 2005 I gave up a lot of my time at my own expense to come and speak sense to you in the Forest of Dean.

In 2001 the blood of your slaughtered and harmless sheep was on the roads of our precious Forest of Dean where sheep have for centuries had the right of way.

That was Blair on the way to re-election by a so-called landslide (36 per cent of the vote).

On the night/morning of the election in 2001 I told you that was a disgrace to democracy.

I now write to say that the voters of the Forest of Dean who voted for Labour in 2001 (Diana Organ) and Conservative in 2005 and 2010 (Mark Harper) are a disgrace to democracy. Neither was a Forester. Organ, I believe, was from Oxford and Harper, an acolyte of David Cameron from Swindon. I warned you in 2001 against the dangers of war in Iraq. You did not listen to me then and you did not listen to me in 2005. Now you have an MP who has voted for war in Syria and a PM who is still strongly supporting the American policy, now clearly identified, as a child could have told you, as regime change in a sovereign country and support for the rebels.

I don't know whether The Forester will publish this letter alongside the intellectual drivel published by Mark Harper (vote for war in Syria) week by week because you are probably ashamed to face the truth about yourselves.

The voters in the Forest of Dean are the real sheep.
