FOREST of Dean District Council's cabinet has approved an updated strategy which looks at how it deals with contaminated land.
By law the council has a duty to inspect its area and ensure that any problems are dealt with. The Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy expla- ins the council's approach to dealing with affected land in the district and timescales for this.
Public consultation on the strategy took place over the summer months.
Cabinet member for the environment Coun Martin Quaile said: "This strategy is important for us, particularly as the Forest of Dean has such an industrial past.
"We are required to review this strategy to meet government guid- ance."
The document is available to be viewed or downloaded from the council's website www. fdean.gov.uk or alterna- tively hard copies can be viewed at the council's Coleford headquarters.
