FORESTER Dave Morris says he hopes he didn't spoil Nigel Farage's 49th birthday after leaving the eloquent UKIP leader lost for words.

Mr Farage came to Lydney as part of a national tour to drum up support for his candidates in the county council elections on May 2.

More than 200 supporters turned up to hear him speak at the Annexe in Lydney, where his answers to questions drew rounds of applause.

But when Dave from Coalway asked about the HOOF campaign and the Forest sell off, he had to call upon local candidate Alan Preest for help.

Dave says he's not a member of any political party, but the Warren James Gang is nearest to his political beliefs.

"He was getting such an easy ride that I thought I would ask him about things I was interested in, like the sell-off of the Forest," said Dave.

"But he had no idea at all. He said it was beyond his knowledge and passed it on to the chairman and then councillor Preest.

"This has been a national issue for two or three years and I can't believe he came to the Forest of Dean so uninformed about something so important. I hope I didn't ruin his birthday party."
