TWO Forest of Dean campsites have been recognised among the UK’s top holiday destinations for 2025, earning places on a national list of the best sites for camping, glamping and touring.
Whitemead Forest Park in Parkend and Greenacres Campsite near Coleford were both included in Campsites.co.uk’s annual Top 150 list, which celebrates the country’s most “outstanding” outdoor accommodation spots.
The list is based on a combination of customer reviews, on-site facilities, location and industry awards, and aims to highlight campsites that consistently deliver high-quality experiences.
Whitemead Forest Park impressed with its family-friendly offering, receiving an average rating of 4.78 out of 5 from visitors, with 98 per cent saying they would recommend the site.
Reviewers praised the park for its wide range of amenities including an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room, adventure golf, and a packed programme of children’s entertainment. Guests also have the option of staying in lodges, apartments or glamping pods.
Just a few miles away, Greenacres Campsite also won praise for its peaceful setting and practical facilities. The site features clean, heated washblocks, an on-site café offering takeaway options, and a small shop for essentials. The owners were also commended for their warm and welcoming approach.
Greenacres is particularly popular with visitors looking to explore nearby attractions such as Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Perrygrove Railway and Go Ape.
A spokesperson for Campsites.co.uk said: “This list showcases the very best camping experiences in the country. These are the places that campers return to year after year because of the exceptional care, location and atmosphere they offer.”
With more families and couples opting for UK staycations, the Forest of Dean continues to stand out as one of the country’s most desirable destinations for a break close to nature.
