THE career of Matt Guy, the chef who won a job at Whitecroft’s Miners Arms on the hit TV show ‘Alex Polizzi: Chefs on Trial’, lies in tatters after a drunken rampage.

His appointment as head chef at the pub was watched by millions in May when he won the television cooking competition, but less than three months later he has been unceremoniously sacked.

Matt, 28, beat off all the other nine contestants in the TV show, fronted by celebrity hotelier Alex Polizzi, to land the top job in the kitchen at the pub owned by Mario and Karen Constantinides.

But, it is alleged that, after a night of heavy drinking at a local music festival, he returned to the pub just after 3.30am on Saturday and jemmied his way into the premises with a crowbar.

Once inside, he retrieved his car keys. But, having made a disturbance in entering the pub, he activated the security system and woke nearby residents who were disturbed by the sound of a car speeding out of the pub car park.

Licensee Mario, who immediately sacked Matt, but has not pressed criminal charges, said: “Matt has let us down and dropped us right in it. We have no choice but to let him go. Yes he did raise the profile of the pub, but to what cost?”
