A CLEARWELL photographer has continued a remarkable run of success after once again topping the scores at the Forest of Dean Camera Club’s latest competition.
Chris Bowman claimed the highest marks at the club’s fourth and final Open Photographic Competition of the 2025/26 season, held last Monday, further cementing what has been an outstanding year.
Professional judges assess entries across three categories awarding scores out of a maximum 20. Across the four Open competitions staged this season, Mr Bowman achieved the top score on seven occasions, a rare feat within the club.
Living in Clearwell near Coleford, Mr Bowman joined the Forest of Dean Camera Club just three years ago but has quickly become one of its standout members. His consistency this season has drawn particular praise, with top scores spread across every round.
Attention now turns to the club’s upcoming Panels Competition, where members submit a linked set of three to five images, followed by the prestigious Photograph of the Year contest in March.
Mr Bowman is the reigning champion, having taken the title last year, and is widely tipped to be a strong contender once again.
Residents will soon have the chance to view his work locally. A selection of Mr Bowman’s photographs will be exhibited at Clearwell Memorial Hall over the weekend of Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15.
The exhibition will also feature work by fellow Clearwell-based camera club members Rowan Jones, Andrew MacBean and Alan Waterman, showcasing a range of photographic styles and subjects from across the area.
Speaking about his success, Mr Bowman said: “My photography has developed significantly from being a member of this club so I am very grateful that Andrew encouraged me to join.”
The exhibition is expected to attract strong local interest, highlighting both individual talent and the strength of the Forest of Dean Camera Club.
