Cinderford residents say they are fed up with the "constant failure" of those responsible for dealing with extreme fly tipping in the town centre.
Concerns have been raised about a number of rubbish incidents in the car park and surrounding streets behind The Original Factory Shop on Cinderford High Street.
Locals say that several incidents have occurred at the location since 2019, which according to one complainant has included the dumping of sofas, fridges and more than 10 bags of rubbish - not only in the car park but also outside homes in surrounding streets.
The complainant, who asked not to be named, says the location has become a fly-tipping hotspot and a "disgusting" health hazard.
They say the rubbish has attracted rats, has a nasty odour, and is visually "just abysmal".
The complainant said that Environmental Health officers would "have a field day", adding that local residents had previously taken it upon themselves to try to clean up the "embarrassing" amount of rubbish.
In May 2020 the complainant set up a petition about the problem, which gained more than 150 signatures.
A spokesman for Forest of Dean District Council told The Forester: "(The) council reacts to all reports of fly-tipping and will remove fly-tipping where it appears on council land.
"We will also investigate to obtain any evidence of an offender’s identity... to pursue a conviction.
"On this occasion the tipping is on private land, and as such is the responsibility of the landowner to remove. We will, however, investigate the incident to attempt to identify the offender."
Cinderford Town Council members agree action must be taken.
The Cooperative Supermarket owns the land in question, and leases it to The Original Factory Shop. Both are aware of the concerns and say it will be dealt with.
