Looking for something to do this summer holidays? Step back in time at Raglan Castle and head on a journey through the ages!

The Worcester Reenactors are returning to Wales and are setting up camp at Raglan Castle. Folk, civilians and soldiers will be returning from the past to tell everybody what their life was like through history in the atmosphere of the ancient ruins.

Dubbed the Raglan Castle Odessey, the multi-period living history weekend invites visitors to explore historic encampments, meet costumed characters and discover what life was like for both soldiers and civilians at different points in history.

No booking is required for the event, simply turn up on Sunday August 30 and Monday August 31. The fun runs between 11am and 4.30pm on both days.

Fans of Phil Collins and Genesis can enjoy an evening of classic hits when And Finally Phil Collins comes to Theatr Brycheiniog on Friday, September 25.

Fronted by Chris O'Connell, the award-winning tribute show celebrates Collins' solo career and his time as Genesis frontman. Audiences can expect performances of favourites including In the Air Tonight, Another Day in Paradise and Sussudio.

The production features a nine-piece live band, two drum kits and the acclaimed And Finally Horns, promising an authentic recreation of the sound and atmosphere of a Phil Collins concert.

The show starts at 7.30pm.

A Shakespeare classic will be brought outdoors this summer as A Midsummer Night’s Dream is staged in the grounds of St Cynog’s Church, Merthyr Cynog.

The open-air production will see audiences follow the action around the churchyard as characters appear among them in this fast and funny promenade performance.

The production, taking place on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, is being directed by Aileen Gonsalves, who has previously worked at the Royal Shakespeare Company, with design by Will Hargreaves, who has more than 30 years’ experience in theatre.

The church grounds will become part of the performance, with the surrounding trees and landscape incorporated into the set.

Director Aileen Gonsalves said: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream feels like it was written for nights like this.

“To bring this play to St Cynog, as the sun sets, with the audience close to the action, is exactly what Shakespeare intended. We’re creating something joyful, a little mischievous, and very unique.”

Reverend Richard Wootten of St Cynog Church said: “St Cynog has been a place of gathering and story for centuries.

“To welcome Shakespeare into our grounds is a wonderful way to bring people together, to celebrate community, creativity and the beauty of where we live.

“We’re delighted to open our doors - and our grounds - to theatre in this way.”

Performances take place at 7pm on Saturday, August 15, with further performances at 3pm and 7pm on Sunday, August 16.

The Sunday matinee performance will include a free fairy workshop for children (1:30pm - 2:30pm), who will have the chance to create fairy wings and take part in the production.

Audience members are advised to bring blankets and camping chairs as the venue is outdoors. A bar and refreshments will also be available.

MUSIC fans are being invited to Cinderford Rugby Club later this month for an evening of live reggae, Caribbean food and entertainment.

South West Live Music has announced it is once again teaming up with Cinderford RFC to host a Reggae Party Night on Saturday, August 15, with organisers promising "a top night out to remember".

Cheltenham based five piece band Kingsley & The Allies will provide the live music, performing a selection of reggae classics and party favourites. The group is expected to take to the stage from 9pm after doors open at 7.30pm.

As well as the live entertainment, visitors will be able to enjoy Jamaican rum and jerk chicken, helping to bring an authentic Caribbean flavour to the evening.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from Cinderford Rugby Club or by contacting organisers Sandra or Donna. The bar will remain open until midnight.

The event will take place at the club's Dockham Road ground and is open to anyone looking for a night of live music in the Forest of Dean.

South West Live Music has previously worked with Cinderford RFC to stage live entertainment at the venue and says it is looking forward to welcoming people back for another evening of music and dancing.

The organisers are encouraging people to buy tickets in advance to avoid disappointment and are hoping for another strong turnout from both local residents and visitors.

The event is one of several entertainment evenings being held at the club during the summer and is expected to provide another boost to Cinderford's live music scene.
