Thieves are causing expensive and dangerous damage to cars in Newent by drilling the fuel tanks to steal petrol.

Victims have been targeted numerous times, with those who have paid to have their petrol tanks repaired singled out for repeat attacks.

The father of a 21-month-old girl, who did not want to be named out of fear of reprisal attacks, said thieves had been spooked during their first attempt and had left around 15 litres of petrol to leak onto the ground.
