ROSS Photo Club’s first competition of the year was based around the theme of ‘Derelict’ with submissions being taken on both digital cameras and smart phones.

With over 45 entries, the judge, Peter Young, had a difficult task to undertake.

PLASTERED: Chris Hawkins’ image of deteriorating plaster work that would have once been very grand and was judged to be the runner up in the colour section. (Chris Hawkins)

Mr Young is a member of the Bromsgrove Camera Club and has been judging competitions for many years.

He has gained many accreditations in photography and, unusually, still uses film cameras rather than digital.

ABANDONED: Several properties on a homestead that have seen better days, as photographed by Barbara Nash. (Barbara Nash)

Mr Young gave very constructive feedback to all photographers on all entries both for the colour section and the mono section.

The winner of the colour section was Matthew Rainer with his image entitled ‘Shot Up’ a truck with bullet holes in the desert. The runner up was Chris Hawkins showing the remains of a decorative plastered wall, and third was Barbara Nash with her photograph of abandoned housing.
