Teenager Sam Spargo was killed after hitting a road sign when his motorbike came off the road.
It is believed the 18-year-old rider came off the road and collided with a chevron sign which was torn off its posts sometime before 7pm on Saturday. Sam, from Gloucester, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin and the Coroner have been informed.
An inquest was due to be opened in Gloucester yesterday afternoon.
A Facebook page, RIP Sam Spargo, has been set up in his memory.
Friend Sam Dyer said: "RIP buddy college was a great laugh with you.
"Words won't describe how much people are going to miss you. Always in our memories."
His mate Andy Tuck wrote: "Although we grew apart the past few years you're a lifelong friend and I'm going to miss you mate. Can't believe this has happened, you'll be missed forever but never forgotten.
"Remembering all the good times we had as kids when we were first allowed out and as we got older. Sleep tight mate I'm here for your mum, dad, brother, sister and the rest of your family, they all know that I'm praying for everyone affected by your loss."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and would urge anyone who saw a red Yamaha YZFR6 motorbike travelling in the area to contact them.
