The mother and teachers of talented musician Will Luckett have paid heartfelt tributes to the teenager who died suddenly.
The 15-year-old Newent Community School pupil died on December 29 after an extreme allergic reaction to something he ate.
The Year 11 student had been visiting his dad on the Isle of Wight and despite being taken to hospital, he died very shortly afterwards.
His mum Helen Stiles, 43, who lives in Clifford's Mesne, said he had always admired his courage in never letting himself be held back from the Asperger's he suffered from.
"I know inwardly his condition caused him distress and at a previous school he had been bullied," she said.
"But he had the strength and courage to get up and give it his best try every day.
"He had a dreadful time at high school on the Isle of Wight and that is part of the reason we moved here in July, 2011.
"Will's form tutor at school was very kind and it gave him confidence. He flourished and thrived at school and I cannot praise his teachers enough.
"It gives me such comfort to know that he spent the last 18 months of his life so happy."
Will had three brothers; Joseph, 17, 10-year-old Hayden and Toby, eight, as well as a sister, Jessica, aged two.
Helen said Will would write small plays at Christmas and Easter with music and sound effects and get his siblings involved.
She said he always made sure his brother Joseph, who is autistic and attends Heart of the Forest Special School, was not left out of the fun.
His real passion in life was music and as well as being a talented guitarist, he also played the piano and was largely self-taught.
Headteacher Jane Steele described Will as a quiet, kind and sensible student.
"He had a good sense of humour and fun and all those who knew him thought he was a really super young man," she said.
"He will be greatly missed by the staff and students who worked with him."
Will joined the school in September 2011 and settled in very quickly.
He was an important member of his tutorial group, particularly as captain of the quiz team on occasions, and enjoyed being part of Collingwood House.
Will was chosen to be a Year 11 Prefect, a role he took very seriously.
"Will was hardworking and conscientious and was studying for eight GCSEs in English, Mathematics, Environmental Science, RE, Geography, Art, History and Music.
"However, Will's tremendous passion and drive was for music. He had already decided to study music at A-Level next year and was planning to become a professional musician.
"A talented guitarist, singer and pianist, Will was a committed member of the school's Jazz Band and spent many evenings and weekends composing, rehearsing and performing.
"Many of us will now treasure the memories we have of Will playing with the Jazz Band or playing solos and supporting other students at school concerts and other musical events.
"Our thoughts go to Will's family at this very sad time."
Will's funeral will be held on Friday, January 18. His mum asked that donations be made to the school's music department in lieu of flowers. There will be a special Memorial Concert for Will on February 19 to celebrate his life and musical talent.
